Carroll Hospice services can include durable medical equipment and supplies, medication related to disease & pastoral care.  A bridge program is available through Carroll Home Care.  Hospice services are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  Hospice services also may be provided in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.

When to call?  It is appropriate when curative treatments are no longer available or desired.  The earlier hospice care is received, the more patients can focus on living.

Guidelines for admission?  Patient has confirmed diagnosis of terminal disease with a prognosis of six months or less.  Patient &/or family agree with hospice philosophy.  Physician and patient have determined that curative therapy is no longer available or desirable.  All agree the primary goal is palliative care, pain and symptom management.

Who pays?  Medicare, Medicaid and other Medical Assistance programs.  Most commercial and private insurance companies, as well as managed care organizations.  Carroll Hospice provides care to all qualified patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Q & A’s  Is hospice care only for the elderly?  Hospice is available to people of all ages & is especially beneficial to families when children are terminally ill.
