Our History

A little bit about us…

Flying Colors of Success, Inc. (FCS) was founded by the Kennedy Krieger Institute in 1991 through a partnership with the Maryland DHMH / Developmental Disabilities Administration, as an independent, private Non-Profit [501 (c) (3)] organization. Originally, FCS responded to the need for community residential programs for individuals who returned to their home communities from large State operated institutions.

Today, FCS is an independent, private, non-profit [501 (c) (3)] organization that operates Group Homes, Alternative Living Units (ALU’s), and 1:1 Day Support throughout Carroll County, Maryland.  Additionally, FCS is licensed to provide Community Supported Living Arrangements (CSLA), Family & Individual Support Services (FISS), and Day Habilitation Services.  Services are provided to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, from teenage through adulthood.  A volunteer board of directors, consisting of local business leaders and consumers, now governs our agency.

Individualized plans are developed for all of our consumers to assist them in becoming as independent as possible in their home, work, school, and community.
